We had great weather, which meant watergames and a walk down to mjøsa so everybody could enjoy a last swim in norwegian water! The leaders also planned their last activities with the kids, and one importante was the one where the kids were divided into their delegations and told to draw a map of the world and put in the countries represented in the village in the right place. After a month together we have all learned a lot about eachothers country and culture but placeing it on a map didn't turn out to be that easy. After every delegation had tried their best, they got a real map to compare their own with. It was a good activity where the kids got an idea of where in the world their new friends live!

On Wednesday, which was our last full day, everybody did a lot of cleaning and packing in the morning so that we could spend the rest of the day together doing a lot of activities. We had all of our favourite energizers in the beginning of activity 2 and continued with girls against boys in "catch the bacon". Then we had "the four elements" before everybody was told to go to their bedroom an bring down their madrass, blanket and pillow. The last night would be spent with everybody sleeping in the gym!

After our last dinner, we all went down to the gym and enjoyed watching a slideshow of the month in our unique village. It brought out both laughter and tears when we saw what our time in Kapp had been like. After that we finished writing in the memorybooks that everybody would bring back home with a nice message from all the others! In the last flagtime, we said goodbye to eachother in every language and sang the CISV-song for the last time.

When we went down to the gym again we sat in a circle around candles spelling CISV with a peace-sign at the end. Everyone got to lit a candle and say what they wanted to say about their experience with this village. It was a really nice ending to the month we have been together and a quiet time to look back on everything we have done and all the people we have gotten to know. Then we had the circle of hugs, where everybody got the chance to say goodbye to each and everyone. This nights lullabies was held with everybody in their beds, and some even went to sleep with the singing still going on. It had been a long but good and emotional day and some had to get up very early the next day!

During the morning hours the staff spent their time driving the kids and the leaders to the station, giving out hugs and saying goodbye. After the last ones where safely put on the bus, we went back and found the school so empty and quiet as it had never been before!

We in the staff hope that you all had a good trip back home and that you are safely back togheter with your families in this moment! We would like to thank all the parents who sent their child to us and gave us the chance to get to know them and have them with us during this great month here in Norway! We hope this is a summer your kids never will forget and that they went back home with a big smile on their face.

And of course not to forget the most important ones; Thank you to all the kids who made this village a fantastic and UNIQUE experience! We are so happy that you could be a part of it!

With all our love,

Lars , Mia, Hilde , & ToggieCISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-7190082603380736872008-07-29T11:07:00.002+02:002008-07-29T11:10:48.140+02:00Sunday, July 27Delegation of the day: Norway and Guatemala

Today Norway and Guatemala were delegations of the day. Norway woke the kids in the morning.

In the first activity we had a big trust game. At the end of the activity, all the kids were divided into pairs and then each of them wrote a postcard for their partner in his/her language. One was telling the sentences to write on the postcard and the partner had to write it down like the language sounds. They should also say it in their own language.

In the second activity we played the game “contrast”. Every group had to perform themes about differences; peace-violence, cooperation-competition. They did very well, it was great to see them act.

Because the day was too hot, we just decided to have a watergame. We had a lot of fun with a hose and sprinkler.

In the third activity the kids, together with the JC’s, had a little pillowfight and then they saw the movie “Pay it forward”. In addition to the day being run completely backwards, we also had the JC olympics wich took activity 1, 2 and half of the third.

We began the olympics with dividing people into groups, then the groups had to do their groupcostumes, song and dance. The groups competed throughout the day for different prizes.

At the end the JC's handed out trophies to the winners and presented their booklets. After that, we had the "monito game", which was awesome. Everybody's secret friend was revealed. We had a great time and we continued with the "scratchmurder game", and after a lot of fun we had a snack and "morning gym"where we sang some awesome songs.

From all the JC'sCISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-77559564547391085952008-07-26T23:23:00.002+02:002008-07-27T09:57:41.641+02:00Thursday, July 24Delegation of the day: Canada and Spain

Today, we had a very interesting day, but almost everybody had their share of frustration. We started out with our regular old breakfast of bread, nutella, jam, butter and cereal. But we all noticed something different about breakfast, a group of kids had been chosen to go and get their breakfast earlier than the others. They were considered as the kids doing especially well at camp.

After breakfast, we went down to the gym and played the grass is growing. We were divided into two groups, one which was much smaller, and that had an advantage over the bigger group, which was found unfair. Although the bigger team had a disadvantage og no verbal communication and having to get over a higher rope without bars to hold on to, the bigger team worked really well together, showed great cooperation and team spirit. When we came into the dininghall for lunch, we saw something very different. The tables in the first half of the room were less crowded, the kids sitting there were served their food by leaders and the tables had tablecloths and candles. The other 53 kids were stuffed onto 4 tables were they had to wait for the “rich kids” to be served. But all these treatment was to be explained later in the day.

After lunch, the kids went outside because the weather was faboulus. They got a task; to protect an egg with different types of materials like cardboard, plastic bags, cans.. After that the leaders trough the egg out the window. The “rich kids” had more materials and also made a parachute so it was the only one that didn’t break. After dinner, we had a long debrief during 3rd activity because we wanted all the kids to get the point of the activity, the most important part of the game.

From Canada and Spain
CISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-4068631383616843222008-07-26T22:49:00.002+02:002008-07-27T09:54:07.611+02:00Tuesday, July 22Delegation of the day: Brazil and Sweden

Today the delegation of the day was both Brazil and Sweden, so Brazil started waking up people with a little demonstration of axe music. Then morning gym, flagtime and breakfast, cleaninggroups and in the first activity we played a really good game. Each delegation has a paper with the name of their own country. When the person in the middle says switch, we needed to pass the paper to the delegation on our right side, till all the delegations had written what they knew about each country. In the end each country made some comments on what was right and wrong on their paper. We really liked it because we could learn more about other cultures.

Then: freetime, lunchtime, siesta and second activity. Since the weather was really good this day, the activity was outside! We played some watergames. In the first one everybody sat in a circle and one person walked around the circle and threw water on another. Then the two of them had to run around the circle and the first person back could sit down. The other games were cooperation games, but with water. The kids loved the games and even more to get the leaders and eachother wet!

At dinner we had a competition between the tables. They had to make up a song with the words "Sweden, Brazil, friendship, CISV and best". They made up some good songs!

At night we had our last national night; Brazil. First they showed some pictures from the main cities, wildlife, food, dance and people. After that they presented one of their national dances called Frevo and Forro. Everybody got to join in on their demonstration of their Carneval. To eat we got brigadeiro (a kind of chocolateballs), pão de queíso, sonho de valsa and they gave us their album. It was a really good night! In the evening Sweden had flagtime, and in lullabies both Sweden and Brazil chose the songs!

Big hugs to everyone, from Brazil and Sweden!CISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-63129190341484637422008-07-26T09:41:00.002+02:002008-07-26T09:49:27.631+02:00Open day + Skibladner<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227226593025102530" style="DISPLAY: block; Today we had our open day and we had invited others to come and see what we do and which countries are gathered here in Kapp. Every delegation got their own desk where they put up pictures, food, brochures and different things that they had brought from their country. Those who had a national costume put it on and everybody did a great presentation of themselves during a show we put on in the gymhall. The weather wasn’t too bad, so we managed to have a little barbeque outside during the day and some of the delegations could offer a little snack by their desk.

After the show in the gym, we all went outside and had flagtime together with the hostfamilies. The cicle got huge! Then all the kids were just waiting to have their name called so they could meet the family they were spending the weekend with. After some hugs and goodbyes all the kids had left the school and now the leaders had some time to clean up, finish packing and get ready to go to our leader’s weekend! CISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-48947551477203885192008-07-24T09:16:00.004+02:002008-07-24T14:03:35.476+02:00Monday, July 21Delegation of the day: Norway

With everybody back from their weekend in a hostfamily, we enjoyed meeting everybody again and of course there was a lot to talk about. All in all, the kids seemed to have had a good time!
In the middle of the night on Monday we had an activity called " House of feelings". We woke everybody up and led them through 5 different stations while they all had a blind fold on. The leaders led them trough stations of taste, feel, smell, sound and trust. After the round in all the stations the kids were put in bed again.

Because of the nightactivity we slept in this morning and started the debriefing in activity 1. Then all the kids had to draw and write what they felt during the nightactivity. After the debriefing we were outside and played "1-2-3-4-5" also called "Red light".

In activity 2 Denmark had their national night and Spain had theirs in activity 3. After breakfast, the camp packed their bags full of warm clothes, camera, and other fun stuff and headed up to a farmhouse in the lovely Norwegian mountains. When we arrived, everyone was given a chance to feed the cows slices of bread. Ten cows pushing up on a fence, and eleven year olds screeching in fears of the cows' long tongues was quite a site. After a relaxing walk to a pond, everyone was given the chance to enjoy a lovely Norwegian meal consisting of porridge and different meats. Our stay with our very kind CISV friend concluded with a game of 'Red Rover' and some fruit for the road.

That night, the United States delegation taught the camp how to make S'mores in the schools Lova (cool tipi looking thing). The activity was filled with a few burnt marshmallows, a camp song about a sleepy moose, and some really cool communication games like 'Indian Chief'. Everyone was able to make this intricate campfire delight and have the recipe in their United States booklet so they can make it for you when they return.

All in all, it was a great day. The delegates really enjoyed branching outside of camp but definitely seemed happy to be back at camp by the end of the night. And of course, the United States delegation rocked the house with their crazy silliness.

Alex, Spencer, Sean, Sivan, and GrayCISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-65808880434326091852008-07-22T14:04:00.004+02:002008-07-22T16:22:40.107+02:00Thursday, July 17Delegation of the day: Sweden

This was the day Sweden was the delegation of the day. We wanted to wake everybody up with singing Mamma Mia by ABBA, but everyone was awake so we just played some swedish music. At flagtime the girls said "God morgon" to everybody and the boys put up the flag. After cleaninggroups we played outside. We did a funny game called "Submarines" and a cooperation game were we had to count to 15 together in a group without speaking to eachother.

In the afternoon we had tradingmarket. Then we could trade the things from our country that we still had left. After Italy doing so good we were ready for not doing any worse. So the 14th of July started by Daniele, Kasparas, Migle, Vytenis and Justas saying LABASRYTAS to everyone. Activity one started really great with a game of the week- "Chinese Masters". Having seven different stations with Olivia having toothbrushing-activity, Sara- obsticle-course, Papis and Sean had "River of lava", Eleonora- dancing and balancing a mophandle, Ricardo chalanged kids with an activity using shoes, Justas was trying to energize every team asking them to come with the activity kids loved most and last but surly not least Thais and Lars' activity where they asked to make kids float in the air.

As much fun as we had during the first activity, sadly lunch was late. But all the worries forgotten when just before lunch every participants hands were tied together for next game called "Handicap-lunch". This game was played to teach everyone co-operation and communication. The third magic word of the day was "trust". To gain more trust in eachother, we played a game called "Falling tree". After it followed the evaluation of all the activities in a circle of nations, with many kids saying how they felt about todays activities.

No matter how lovely and nice the the day was, it came to an end and we finished it by singing "...we all say LABANAKTIS to them, and tomorrow we'll meet again."

With all the love- Daniele, Kasparas, Migle, Vytenis and Justas CISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-85528049101930600062008-07-14T13:50:00.005+02:002008-07-14T14:00:29.546+02:00Pictures from the last few days<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; There were not many children to wake up for the Icelandicdelegation but Icelandic music was played nonetheless.

After breakfast it was cleaning groups as usual. We are all indifferent cleaning groups and find it ok to do a bit of cleaning inthe morning. Elsewise the school would be a mess. In the activity after lunch, JC-shop and siesta we played a blinking game that was lots of fun. Girls were sitting in the inner circle and boys in the outer. There was always one free seat in the boys' circle so the boys behind the free seat had to blink a girl to get them to come to theirfree seat. The boy behind the girl that was blinked then had to touchher on the shoulder to prevent her from leaving. We also did someenergizer and played a fun game called Mickey Mouse.

After spending a long time indoors as it had been raining we went outside for ten minutes and played one running game and got some fresh air. Some of the children are doing a competition within their owndelegation in who has the tidiest bed and desk. After shower many children therefore try to tidy up a bit around their beds.

We had pizza for dinner, a delicious pizza. After that Sweden had their national night. They sang an ABBA song and then all of us danced around the maypole (midsommarstång), something Swedes typically do in late June. That was lots of fun. We also got some sweets and solved a puzzle with pictures from Sweden.

Hildur, Jóhann Klemens, Tryggvi, Helena Rakel & Alma.CISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-34407494442178407982008-07-13T22:37:00.003+02:002008-07-14T12:29:36.373+02:00Friday, July 11Delegation of the day: Guatemala

We woke up everybody with music from a guatemalan singer named Ricardo Arjona. In the first activity we did a couple of energizers. We learned how to dance a traditional dance from Russia called "Troika", and we played "Catch the hat" which was a runninggame in which the boys play against the girls to see who catches the hat first. It was really funny!!

In the second activity we had the presentation of the German delegation. They taught us some folk dances and after that we went from the gym to the dininghall while following pictures of the delegation, big cities in Germany and important places they have. The path lead us to german sweets, it was very good!

At night in the third activity we had Norwegian national night. It was awesome! They were wearing their national costume. First they tauhgt us folkdances such as "Hallingdance". A person is standing holding a stick that has a hat at the end, another person has to dance around it and then kick the hat off the stick. After that the delegation presented a play of "Askeladden and the Troll" where a boy fools the troll. It was very good! Then we tasted porridge.

Kristina, Dani, Demian, Andrés and RicardoCISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-33950105218610825222008-07-11T23:02:00.004+02:002008-07-11T23:20:01.078+02:00Thursday, July 10Delegation of the day: Germany

Today we had nice weather so we went to the lake. Then as usual, we went out to breakfast but to our surprise, to go along with bread, we had the cereal! To help clean up all the soggy cereal, the cleaning groups tidied up the school making it spic and span. Activity 1 was an extra surprise because we went outside for a change. We played cat and mouse and used a whole lot of energy! But it was really fun all the same.

For lunch, we had macaroni and cheese and tomato purée. (Which was meant to be soup) Then, for activity 2 (which was also outside!), we played “Samurai intergalactico” which is a fun game where you get to yell your head off multiple times! After that, we played a fun runninggame called “Octipus”. The object of the game is to get across the playing field without getting caught by the sharks or the octopus which can’t move. Everybody had a lot of fun.

After delegationtime and an asian style dinner of thai noodles served in a laundrybasket, we had the last activity of the day, activity 3. The activity was meant to teach names to the rest of the camp. A famous one is “the Blanket game”! 2 teams, 1 person in the “hot seat” and one objective to guess the oponait’s name first! Who ever does will win. The last game was “The newspaper game”. 1 circle and 1 person in the middle. That person tries to tap the person called. There is a lot of running and head scratching.

Next came a snack, you had a choice of different breads. Once we all had our fair share, it was Flag time, where we all say goodnight in our own language, then sing the CISV song. For lullabies we sang five songs; American Pie, Wonderwall, Yellow Submarine, Leaving on a Jetplane and You are my sunshine. Then we all went to bed after another great day!

Thom, Laura, Maddie, Johan & OliviaCISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5438217892347136731.post-35438652000599988472008-07-09T11:58:00.007+02:002008-07-09T12:19:42.755+02:00July 9th 2008<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; It is Tuesday morning, and we have finished our first full day of camp. Everything went very well. Later today the Brazilian delegation that were "delegation of the day" yesterday, will sit down and write a little diary of what happened yesterday, and we will post that in the blog. It was raining yesterday, but the sun is back today, which we are very happy about. Now the children, leaders and JC's will have cleaning groups, while the staff have a meeting. Wishing you all a beautiful day, that was it for now from Unique Village in Norway.
CISV Unique Villagehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11806224509960622211noreply@blogger.com1
